About Ginkgo
Ginkgo is a species of tree native to East Asia, that holds a treasured place in my heart. It is among the oldest of tree species and is commonly referred to as a ‘living fossil’, having been around for 200+ million years!
The name 'Ginkgo Wellbeing' aptly represents the service’s ethos. Ginkgos have survived natural disasters and war, even when all else around them perished. It is well-known that six Ginkgo trees survived the Hiroshima atomic bomb in 1945, despite being near the blast centre, and are still alive today. It is no surprise that Ginkgos are seen as sacred, and an emblem of hope and resilience all over the world. They embody peace in the face of destruction and serve as a reminder of the enduring power of nature.
Ginkgos also symbolise balance; their two-lobed leaves reflect yin and yang. Life has ups and downs, with good and bad experiences. A journey to inner peace involves embracing the entirety of our being; recognising both the light and dark, and accepting you can't have one without the other.
