Counselling for doctors

Are you a doctor in need of support? Looking for a safe space to talk, with someone who understands? Look no further...

Over the years, I have seen doctors struggling and not having the appropriate support. Many suffer in silence for fear of being seen as weak, broken, or worried about the consequences it may have on their job. â€‹The stark reality is that doctors have a higher rate of suicide compared with the general population and compared with many other professional groups.

Ironically, for a profession that centres on caring for people, the culture often isn’t caring towards its staff. There are very high standards and expectations and, despite the toll the job can take on you health, there is relatively little support for your own wellbeing.

Not many people can relate to the pressure and level of responsibility that comes with being a doctor. It is not ‘normal’ to see the things you often see when working as a doctor (or any healthcare professional), even though these things become familiar and just a part of the job you are expected to get on with!
